Eating Louis Armstrong
Prague´s fabulous Stoleti isn´t as famous as the names on the menu, but it could be From the moment you walk into Stoleti, I´m sure you´ll feel right at home, just as my friend and I did.
Antonin, Count Kinsky, the owner of Bar Bar, has done it again. The Count hasn´t tried to copy his previous success at the Mala Strana creperie, but has decided to try something different, while sticking to Bar Bar´s strengths - good food, great prices, and a wonderful atmosphere. Entering the restaurant, you find a light, sunny and inviting room, painted in soft earth tones.
The atmosphere is that of a casual bistro or coffeehouse. The atmosphere is similar in main dining room, but there is a noticeable step upscale as you move through to dine - the lighting is perfect and with threedraped arched glass doors., which open onto the outside, the rooms opens even more . The restaurant seats around 40 people, but this seems ample for the space.
Stoleti is worht putting on a regular list. The location, decor, service and food (named for famous people, e.g. "Gloria Swanson" was smoked salmon or "Arturo Toscanini" - Mozzarella fresco) are on a par with many of Prague´s more costly restaurants but at a fraction of the price! The average cost of a main dish is only 109 crowns, with a steak costing you a whopping 178 crowns.
You won´t go broke eating here, and you might decide to switch from one of Prague´s other well-located restaurants where you could pay a lot more for a dining experience of the same quality.

Dining out with stars
Dining with stars is usually more memorable whan enjoyable. The restaurant Století - which means "century" - has found a reasonable compromise: honor them in absentia. Memorializing luminaries of the last hundred years with such tributes as a salmon named for Gloria Swanson and a steak called Ernest Hemingway is close enough for me, especially when you can enjoy their company on one of Old Town´s quietest streets, for a working-Joe price, and without fanfare. Století offers solid value and inspired kitchen technique - though that last one does go a bit far at times...
You can honestly say you´ve had a pure Czech meal at a new place and thoroughly enjoyed it at Století.
